I learned that civilizations got more advanced as time went on. One of the most advanced civilizations was the Indus Valley. It had over 5 million people, the Indus river helped to get water and essentially rocks. The Indus are known for irrigation, buildings, and their baked brick homes. It is also known as the Harappan Civilization after one of the uncovered sites. Egyptians are also known for their advancements. Egyptians actually impacted many things even today. Egypt had a total of 30 different dynasty's. They also had many developments in arts, religion, and culture. Egypt was under rule during the Bronze age, the Bronze age stopped when Mesoptamian empires reached Egypt. Egyptians were polytheistic, they believed in several gods. They thought different gods were the explanation for most things occuring in nature. The Egyptians believed that there was much more after death. Specifically they thought that once people died they had a big journey to the afterlife. When they were buried they put scrolls, books, maps and even weapons in the coffin with them to help them on their journey. The Egyptians built very large buildings known as pyramids to honor the dead. They used tons of sandstone blocks to build them, even with a large group helping pyramids took 10 years or more. Pyramids end up weighing 6.5 million tons. The most famous pyramid is the Pyramid of Giza, it is one of the greatest 7 wonders of the world and is the oldest known pyramid. It was built for one of the 4th dynasty pharoahs to be buried in. Pyramids were built to honor the dead, they were tall to be close to the gods. Egyptians preserved their dead by mummification. They wash the body, then take out all the organs except for the brain and heart. They put oil and salt on the body and wrap it head to toe in cloth to protect it. They do this to protect and preserve the body which shows how important the pharoahs were to the people.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7ndRwqJYDM. This video is a crash course to advanced civilizations. It's narrated by John Green and it's hilarious and educational. You learn about the basic first advanced civilizations, and what a civilization even is. You lean about specific civilizations like the Greeks, Chinese, Egyptians, and the Indus valley. I liked this video because I learned some things I didn't know since he really went into detail and explained things.
My best assignment was my Egypt notes. I got a ten out of ten. It was pretty easy we watched several videos and took notes on it. :-)
